Phytostandard® Sureau

• Each plant can contain up to 250 compounds in its cells. All of these compounds form the totality of the plant. The extraction process is a key factor in preserving all the plant compounds.
For the Rhodiola extracts, we have selected the plant parts richest in compounds: the fruits of elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.) to elaborate the food supplement Phytostandard® Sureau capsules.
• How are the elderberry extracts for this Phytostandard® selected?
Elderberry is a shrub that grows in groves and edges of temperate zones in Europe. Elderberry produces flowers in April, but these are very fragile and late frosts can affect the appearance of the fruit. Its flowers and fruits are also appreciated for making elderberry syrup. We harvest the fruits in France in August and September. The picking is done by hand and can be laborious as the elderberry can reach up to 8 m high. The fruits are frozen on the spot in order to preserve the quality of the compounds.
They are then crushed and extracted using the Phytostandard® process, which is recognised for its respect for the integrity of the plant's compounds. The elderberry extract obtained is alcohol-free. It is then freeze-dried, i.e. cold dehydrated to be put into a vegetable capsule. The manufacturing process, from the Phytostandard® extraction to the capsule filling, is carried out in France, which allows product traceability from production to distribution.
