Phytostandard® Plantain

• Each plant can contain up to 250 compounds in its cells. All of these compounds form the totality of the plant. The extraction process is a key factor in preserving all the plant compounds. For the plantain extracts, we have thus selected the plant parts richest in compounds: the leaves of plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.) to elaborate the food supplement Phytostandard® Plantain capsules.
• How are the plantain extracts for this Phytostandard® selected?
Edible in salads or soups but little used in this form, plantain can be found just about everywhere in the world. It is cultivated in Ardèche. Its cultivation requires real know-how, particularly concerning irrigation to ensure an optimal composition (a plantain that is over-watered will give leaves that are not very rich in compounds). Because of the small size of the plant, the pickers harvest the leaves on their knees, which makes the task difficult. The leaves, once collected, are frozen on site and transported to our Phytostandard® manufacturing plant in Ariège.
They are then crushed and extracted using the Phytostandard® process, which is recognised for its respect for the integrity of the plant's compounds. The plantain extract obtained is alcohol-free. It is then freeze-dried, i.e. cold dehydrated to be put into a plant capsule. The manufacturing process, from the Phytostandard® extraction to the capsule filling, is carried out in France, which allows product traceability from production to distribution.
