Phytostandard® Passiflore

• Each plant can contain up to 250 compounds in its cells. All of these compounds form the totality of the plant. The extraction process is a key factor in preserving all the plant compounds. For the passiflora extracts, we have therefore selected the plant parts richest in compounds: the aerial parts of passiflora (Passiflora incarnata L.) to elaborate the food supplement Phytostandard® Passiflore capsules.
• How are the passiflora extracts for this Phytostandard® selected?
Passiflora is a climbing plant. It is mainly found in Central and South America, but also in tropical Asia, Australia and Polynesia. The passiflora used to make this Phytostandard® comes from France. All the aerial parts are harvested, but it is nevertheless the leaves that are the richest in compounds and which enable the best Phytostandard® extract to be obtained. We let the passifloras grow for 5 months in greenhouses or in the open ground for a harvest at the end of the summer, in August, the period when the plant is the most loaded with compounds. The aerial parts are then frozen to preserve these compounds.
Then the plant is crushed and extracted using the Phytostandard® process, which is recognised for its respect for the integrity of the plant's compounds. The passiflora extract obtained is alcohol-free. It is then freeze-dried, i.e. cold dehydrated to be put into a plant capsule. The manufacturing process, from the Phytostandard® extraction to the capsule filling, is carried out in France, which allows product traceability from production to distribution.
