Phytostandard® Harpagophytum

• Each plant can contain up to 250 compounds in its cells. All of these compounds form the totality of the plant. The extraction process is a key factor in preserving all the plant compounds. We have thus selected the plant parts richest in compounds: the roots of hapagophytum (Harpagophytum procumbens DC.) to elaborate the food supplement Phytostandard® Harpagophytum capsules.
• How are the harpagophytum extracts of this Phytostandard® selected?
Commonly known as "devil's claw" because of its hooked fruits and spines, harpagophytum is a plant specific to the south of the African continent that is fond of arid environments.
The harpagophytum used in the manufacture of our Phytostandard® extract comes from a region close to the Namibi Desert, which is devoid of any infrastructure. Its roots are harvested by hand and then cut into slices so that they dry more quickly in the sun. The location of the harpagophytum makes it impossible to supply fresh roots (except for the Phytostandard® range). However, its compounds, which are not very sensitive, can withstand the heat as well as transport by boat to France.
It is then crushed and extracted using the Phytostandard® process, known for its respect for the integrity of the plant's compounds. The harpagophytum extract obtained is alcohol-free. It is then freeze-dried, i.e. cold dehydrated to be put into a plant capsule. The manufacturing process, from the Phytostandard® extraction to the capsule filling, is carried out in France, which allows product traceability from production to distribution.
